Men's Tungsten Carbide Wedding Bands
Tungsten carbide is roughly ten times harder than 18K gold, which makes it the most scratch resistant wedding band material in common use. For anyone who works with their hands, it is the practical choice.
What tungsten does well
It keeps a polished finish for years rather than months, it carries substantial weight that feels solid on the hand, and it costs a fraction of a precious metal band. It also takes inlays and finishes that gold cannot, including wood, carbon fibre, meteorite and coloured ceramic.
What to know before buying
Tungsten cannot be resized, so the size has to be correct at purchase. It is hard but brittle, which means it will crack rather than bend under severe impact. That is actually a safety advantage, since a tungsten band can be cracked off in an emergency where a gold band would need to be cut.
