Diamond Designs Service Areas

Orange, Connecticut

People do not usually drive past three jewelry stores to reach a fourth. When they do, it is worth understanding why.

Diamond Designs has been on Boston Post Road in Orange since 2002. Most of our clients come from within twenty minutes, and a good number come from further, usually because someone they trust sent them. Below is where they come from, and what tends to bring them.

Where our clients come from

Orange and the immediate towns

Our home ground

Orange, Milford and West Haven are where the family has sold jewelry since 1983, two decades before Diamond Designs opened. Many of these clients are second generation: their parents bought here, and now they do.

For anyone in these towns, everything is walk-in convenient. Repairs get dropped off on the way to something else, cleaning takes minutes, and a ring that needs sizing before a weekend is usually possible.

Greater New Haven

A short drive east

New Haven, Hamden, East Haven and North Haven make up much of our engagement ring business. It is a university city with a steady flow of people getting engaged, and a lot of them want to see a stone in person rather than buy one from a website.

This is where the GIA training earns its keep. A buyer who has spent a week reading about the 4Cs online arrives with good questions, and gets real answers rather than a sales pitch.

The shoreline

Branford east to Guilford

Shoreline clients tend to arrive with a piece rather than a purchase in mind: an inherited ring that needs resetting, a chain that broke, a stone that came loose. Coastal towns hold a lot of older jewelry, and a lot of it is worth more than its owner assumes.

If you are coming from the shoreline, call ahead. It saves a wasted drive if the piece needs to go to the workshop, and we can quote most repairs over the phone from a photograph.

The Naugatuck Valley

Derby, Shelton and north

The Valley towns are close enough to be routine and far enough that people come for a reason. Usually that reason is either custom work or men's wedding bands, where the selection at a chain store runs out quickly.

Our alternative metal bands, from Lashbrook and Triton, cover materials most stores do not stock: tungsten, zirconium, tantalum, Damascus steel and meteorite. Worth the drive if you work with your hands and gold is not practical.

Lower Fairfield County

Bridgeport, Fairfield and west

Fairfield County clients almost always come by recommendation. There is no shortage of jewelry stores between here and there, so anyone making the drive is coming for a specific reason: a designer line we carry, a custom piece, or because someone told them to.

If you are coming this far, book an appointment. It guarantees uninterrupted time and means the pieces you want to see are out of the case when you arrive.

Diamond Designs has been on this road since 2002, continuing a family jewelry business that started in Orange in 1983. Read our history.

Boston Post Road is Route 1, which runs the length of the Connecticut shoreline, so most of the towns above connect to us on a single road without touching a highway. Coming from further out, the Merritt Parkway and I-95 both feed into Orange.

Walk-ins are welcome. An appointment is worth booking for engagement ring shopping or a custom design consultation, and essential if you are driving more than half an hour.

Store hours: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 10 to 6. Thursday 10 to 8. Saturday 10 to 5. Closed Sunday and Monday.

Not sure it is worth the drive?

Call us first. Describe what you are looking for and we will tell you honestly whether we have it, whether we can get it, or whether you would be better served somewhere closer to home.
