The ring you are picturing probably does not exist yet. That is not a problem. It is how most of the rings in this store started.
We design and build custom engagement rings in Orange, Connecticut, and have since 2002. You approve the design on screen before anything is cast, you see the actual diamond in person before it is set, and you deal with the same people from the first conversation to the final fitting.
Every case in the state, every website, and the ring in your head is still not on a shelf. Custom is not the expensive option here. It is the only one.
A grandmother's diamond, a ring nobody wears, a stone from a marriage that ended. We reset stones into something worn every day. The sentiment survives, the dated setting does not.
Off the shelf, you pay for whatever a manufacturer guessed would sell. Custom lets you put the money into the stone and keep the setting simple, or the reverse. Your call, not theirs.

Bring photos, screenshots, a sketch on your phone, an old ring, or nothing at all. We talk about the stone, the style, the budget and the date it has to be ready.
The consultation is free and commits you to nothing. A good number of these end with us telling someone that what they want already exists in a case, and it is cheaper.
We source stones to your specification, natural or lab grown, and you look at them under magnification next to each other before you choose.
This is the step you cannot do online. A diamond on a screen is a photograph. Two stones side by side under real light is the only way to understand what a half grade of color is actually costing you.
Your ring is modeled in 3D and you get photorealistic renderings from every angle. Every prong and every millimeter of thickness is settled here, on screen, where changing it costs nothing.
You get an initial design and two rounds of revisions. Nothing goes into production until you approve the final one.
The ring is cast, finished and hand set at the bench, then you come back, we check the fit on the hand, and anything that needs adjusting is adjusted before it leaves.
Put plainly: if you commission the ring, the design fee is not an extra cost. It is the first $250 of it.
Once production begins a custom ring cannot be cancelled or returned, because it cannot be resold. The design stage exists precisely so that nothing reaches production before you are certain.
Costs more for the same specification and holds value in a way lab grown currently does not. We buy them back, and a natural diamond bought here trades back at one hundred percent of what you paid toward a larger stone, whenever you are ready.
Chemically and optically identical, graded by the same laboratories, and considerably cheaper. The same budget buys noticeably more carat.
The trade-off is resale. That market is thin, prices have fallen steadily, and we do not buy them back.
We sell both and will not steer you either way. What we will do is tell you the resale difference before you choose rather than after.
Very common and not a problem. Resizing after the fact is straightforward on most designs, and we can talk you through how to find out without ruining the surprise.
Whatever you are comfortable with. The old rules about months of salary were invented by an advertising agency. Tell us a number and we will build toward it rather than around it.
Plan on several weeks from first consultation to finished ring. If you have a date, say so at the first meeting and we will tell you honestly whether it is possible before you get attached to a design.
We can design something inspired by it. We will not reproduce another designer's protected work, and any jeweler who offers to should worry you.
It happens, and it is survivable. Bring her in and we will rework it. That is considerably easier with a local jeweler than with a website.
Not necessarily. You control the stone and the metal, which is where most of the cost sits.
For the design conversation, it is much better if you do. If you would rather start from home, our design tool takes about two minutes and we pick it up from there.
