Split Shank Engagement Rings

The band divides as it approaches the centre stone, creating an open space on either side. It is a design choice that makes the centre stone read larger and gives the ring a more architectural profile from above.

Why split shank

The split draws the eye inward toward the centre and frames it without adding a halo. It also adds visible width at the top of the ring while keeping the back of the band comfortable, which suits longer fingers particularly well.

Variations to look for

A pinched split narrows sharply and reads delicate. A wide split creates a bolder frame. Splits can be plain metal, diamond set along both sides, or bypass style where the two halves cross rather than meet. Each version pairs differently with a wedding band, so it is worth thinking about the band at the same time.
