Reading the specification
Diamond earrings are quoted by total carat weight for the pair. A pair described as one carat total holds two half carat stones. Because the stones are smaller than a typical engagement center, clarity differences are much harder to see, which makes earrings one of the best places to prioritize cut and save on clarity.
Everyday versus occasion
Studs and hinged hoops are secure enough for daily wear. Anything with a friction back and real value is worth converting to a screw or locking back. Drops and clusters are better saved for occasions where they will not catch on clothing.
